Weekend Open Forum: What are your most anticipated video game releases for holiday 2014?

Can't say that I'm anticipating any of the remaining 2014 releases. As I see it, there is nothing new being done from a gameplay or story standpoint. Dragon Age looks like it might be interesting, but, outside of that, I don't know of anything in the pipeline that I would value at $60.

I'm looking forward to BioWare bombing on Dragon Age III. I hope they do because they have betrayed their fans with every release of a new game ever since they were bought out by EA.

On the other hand, I may pre-order Inquisition merely to spite people like this. "I don't like what Bioware does, so I hope they fail!" Such a well reasoned position.

I don't like what EA does

Nor do I. In fact, I consider the EA branding to be a mark of death for most non-sports games. But there is something annoyingly childlike about the guest's response.

Personally I am not an avid gamer so not really looking forward to any new game releases however my daughter is looking forward to getting Sims 4. Having said that I am interested in Trainz: A New Era which is supposed to be a very realistic rail simulator.

None! Waiting for Rollecoaster Tycoon World in early 2015. Haven't been this excited about a release in years.

The time when I was excited by the launch of a video game is long past. The crap quality and overabundance of games coming out each year sees to that. These days, it's nothing but false hype, marketing strategy, psychological profiling and moneymilking. I've had enough, thank you!

Could not agree more. The only exception for me might be Blizzard, but even there, Diablo 3's release was a mess. I'm just over the 'release now and let them beta-test it' mentality that the mega-publishers have.

My current method is to wait a year, let the game mature, and get the game plus all the DLC for $10 on steam.

Yeah I second that. My issue though is that the FC games are very similar and I don't know if paying $60 for FC4 is worth it.
Yep the FC games at least 2 and 3 were the same. I am not ready to play 4 if it is more of the same for quite awhile

Elite Dangerous is a must have of course and I will also probably buy GTAV when it's out in january for pc. The first person mode just made it even more attractive to me.
EA and Ubi can go fark themselves as far as I'm concerned.

I am most likely going to pick up Bayonetta 2 when it goes down in price (I absolutely refuse to pay full price for games anymore when they drop $20 in just a months time). I may or may not dabble with the new WoW expansion just for nostalgia sake (I haven't played since its beta/initial release).

The only game I plan on buying day one is Witcher 3 because it's freaking Witcher 3. I may pick up Dragon Age 3 if the reviews are good but they "shamed" themselves with Dragon Age 2 so they are going to have to earn their dollars from me on that game.

I don't really want any new games for the holidays.

I'm going to take the biggest cash advance possible on all my credit cards, dash over to Ebay, and buy up as many of those Atari cartridges from the dump as I can!(y)

And for those of you who are new to Techspot I say, "Christmas, bah humbug, the only ones who win at that game, are large corporations and retailers"....

I've bid on a kickstarter for a fiction game called 'meet the truthful politician'. The release date is Feb 30th 2015, I do hope it's not vapourware.

The new CoD if it's on sale for $30. After that, GTA V for PC in January. After that, BF5?

I'll have to check out GTA 5...I've never played any GTA but think that it's something that I may actually enjoy. I guess we'll see in January 2015, as everyone is pointing out.

I quit anticipating games years ago. You generally end up disappointed and feel like you just had $60 stolen out of your pocket.

Dark Cloud 3...............................................

Wait what? There's talk of another Dark Cloud. I was literally talking about some old nostalgia games that was one of my top 3.

OT: I'm with a few others, nothing this end of the year impresses me or is worth $50-$60. The only other game I'm remotely interested in would be the Tom Clancy's The Division. Otherwise I have plenty of games already to play. Seems like a saturated year for mediocre game titles, no?
