Weekend Open Forum: What is your best idea for an invention?

I don't quite understand you guys. The question is, "Have you ever come up with an idea only to find someone else profited from it years later?"

Let's get in detail here:
Come up with an idea
to find out someone else profited from it years later

This means posting ideas that are already being exploited by somebody else. So what's with this " I WILL NOT POST MY BEST IDEA HERE" attitude? Nobody's asking you for that.

My idea: Create a type of plastic that would not leech its chemicals into food when heated or frozen.

On a similar note: does anyone have any tips or strategies for those of us who "might" have a winning idea for a website, yet don't know how to go around developing it? How can I ensure that my idea stays my idea even when discussing it with other people, and doesn't get ripped off (seeing as how a lot of people on this board are concerned about this).

Senior year I created a website that started as a funny blog, that then quickly turned into a second version which was for posting everything, what you were doing that night, where you were going. Quickly grew to include about 50 friends before most of us graduated and forgot about it. Yeah, We blew that opportunity.

Like any proper contemporary inventor, you draw up a vague illustration of your idea on some note paper, patent it, and sue the person who eventually makes a similar website. As a Ferengi would say, this strategy is pure profit.

I remember posting on this site about transformer style tablets. I.e when you plug your tablet into a base its gives you more power and more battery life. Than when you unplug it becomes a portable normal lower powered tablet. They were released couple months after my post probably in development by that stage but still interesting if people are out there stealing ideas off the internet. Other idea I had was basically the steam box but smaller although not ground breaking in itself.
