Weekend Open Forum: What's the worst game you've ever played?

Forza 5 was nothing compared to 4 and was basically a paid dlc con, I even felt the car driving details had been researched poorly compared to 4, and driveclub is even worse for that apparently.

I have unusually high standards for PC games and pretty low for console games, for some reason. I've been disappointed by a huge number of PC titles, to be honest. If I can only mention one, then I'd say RoboCop (2003). The box gave me the impression of a great gameplay, so, being a big RoboCop fan as a kid, I bought it in a heartbeat. Sadly, though, the actual game's mediocrity was beyond words; bad graphics, terrible physics (even by 2003 standards), and superficial plot, were the three biggest downlights for me.

These might not be the worst of all time but these are games I have played semi recently and found very lacking

White Night Chronicals for the PS3. Very in depth character creation then you don't even play as that character.
Hell Gate: London felt like a bad Diablo 2 ripoff. Got bored partway into it and never picked it back up
Battlefield 4. Got it free with a graphics card purchase otherwise I would have never played it. Not really my game style, so I'm probably a bit bias. But got annoyed by the launcher working through a website. Ran glitchy on my computer.
I was very disappointed with the storyline of the new Star Ocean. Played the hell out of Til The End of Time, but the storyline in the new one in the PS3 felt weak. Awesome new plant to explore.... Go somewhere else on pointless quest.
The new Sim City, even after the removed the always online, was terrible.
Sure there was others but can't think of more right now.

Witcher 2. Unplayable game, even the game devs are aware of it and advise's you to install an unofficial mod to fix some of the problems. But for some reason it's gotten a very vocal fan base that defend's it like it's their retarded child, I don't know maybe it's the digital boobs that you get to see.
Troll guest post? The witcher 2 has always been very well optimized and I've never even seen someone have an issue with the game.

The claimed "devs don't card" is a fallacy. CD Project is one of the best companies for after launch support. All The Witcher 2's DLC was even released free.

Well I can see how my post looks as a "troll post" since the majority posted games that have technical issues, and yes you're right , Witcher 2 doesn't have any technical issues, it's game play is what's broken. The controls are so unresponsive it makes the game unplayable. I won't go into any details because I feel everyone that has played this game knows what I'm talking about, even those who enjoyed the game.

Also here is an article on the mod I was talking about.

Far Cry 2
And any single player game that requires to be always on-line.

Yeah, I'll second that one! Any game you pay good money for, that uses the required on-line feature just so the company can collect more marketing data is nothing but a scam.

I got the The Witcher 2 for 360 and I did not have one glitching issue with the game. I can't speak for the PC, but I can speak for CD ProjektRed, which would not put out some unplayable game if it means pissing off fans. They just delayed The Witcher 3 to ensure that the bugs get worked out (here's hoping that doesn't turn into an unplayable mess, however).

Hmm, hard to say because I normally categorize things based on disappointment, gameplay, or things like that.

If I had to pick the worst game I ever played it would probably be Mario is Missing for the NES just because it was not really a Mario game at all and did not function at all close to one. I already had played Mario, Mario 2, and Mario 3 (Even Super Mario World) and this was a gift from someone (cannot even remember who anymore) that made me expect to see some forgotten Mario world game that was going to be awesome. Well to put it lightly, I was wrong...

If I had to pick others, I would say for disappointing games my most disappointing game that made it really sad for me personally was Fable 2. How can you screw up a game on a new platform with a realm of possibilities open to you after making Fable (Specifically with the lost chapters expansion) which was such an amazing game on the Xbox and PC (For me PC).

Any pay to win game or freemium, whatever. PES 2014 and 15 both suck IMO. Every NFS after the old Most Wanted. Never liked Deux Ex. There were many older games I didn't like but can't remember their names and stuff.

All the CoD games since the original Modern Warfare, N4S games since the PS2 era, any and all smart phone based games, every last pay to play game and freemium game. Oh and anything made by EA in the last 5 years, crap gotta include Ubisoft and they're DRM. Lastly, Destiny, for being an incomplete game that already cost more than $100 with the DLC (Which was supposed to be base content), lack of a detailed story, which was promised, poorly optimized PVP, still getting melee kills after death and easily the worse match making system I have ever seen. That's likely due to the 3v3 or 6v6 nature of the game, it's great being paired with two people who have no idea what they're doing against 3 people who are already in a fireteam with mics and are able to coordinate and thus dominate. The same happens in the 6v6, played a game where one guy on the other team had more points then the rest of my team combined... Skill level clearly isn't taken in to account when forming the teams, this is really disappointing given the games isn't from a time before internet connections.

I'm usually very careful about what games I buy, so I don't get burned too often.

I'd say the "worst game" I've played is Enter the Matrix. Not sure if was just the GameCube port or the game's overall quality, but it was pretty unplayable for me, both on a technical level and the controls.

"most disappointing game" is different for me, because I'm sure these are quality games that really didn't meet what I expected. Those two are Prince of Persia 3D and Freelancer
