  1. Crysis 2 performance test (by Nvidia) When the original Crysis came out it was universally heralded for its groundbreaking graphics, and while its high-quality visuals were unparalleled at the time, not everyone was able to enjoy them. Crytek had designed Crysis to be "future-proof," meaning that no single graphics card released at the time would be able to run Crysis smoothly with all detail options enabled. Nvidia

I can run the Crysis 2 demo on a Core 2 Duo E6400, 9800GTX computer on 1280x1024 and hardcore settings with an (almost) playable framerate. I'm not sure if this is a result of the new engine optimizations, the graphics being dumbed down due to consoles, or both (most likely).
I know that they said that the PC version will have better graphics than the console version, but I believe that Crysis 1 had better graphics.

This is funny though: We complain about low FPS, and after we get more framerates, we (at least I) complain about high FPS :p

haha that Nvidia benchmark is complete and utter crap. I'm willing to bet that your tests will not show similar results when the DX11 full game comes to the fray!

It's definitely inferior to the first game graphics wise when you look at polycounts, textures and animations. But looking at cpu/gpu usage it's also more optimized. So yah it's due to both.

Did you even read the review? It clearly shows that they're DX9 benchmarks. Did you expect Nvidia to go and make DX11 work for the review? It's just something to give you an idea how it will run on X settings at X resolution.

Yep. Read it. Donno what made it unclear. They showing what 2 generations old API is doing on their graphics cards. Granted my statement could be more clear. Should prolly say something like "Let's just wait and see what the actual DX11 figures look like instead of seeing what latest GFX cards do on new DX9 games :)"
And yes, since it is Nvidia and since "Crytek has been working closely with Nvidia" and bla bla, I DID kinda expect them to use their leverage to release some DX11 figures. The fact they haven't prolly means that the figures aren't compelling.

I'm starting to have my doubts about crysis 2 and the cry engine 3. I was looking at the new features in the unreal engine over on WIRED and it's pretty D&%# impressive. I hope Crytec doesn't let us PC gamers down, but it's starting to look that way the closer we get to release. No DX11 at release is BS on a game that selling point IS the graphics. Never thought I'd say this, but good thing I can't really afford a DX11 card or the game itself.

Those are directx 9 benchmarks? So I can expect hardcore at 1680x1050 with my 460gtx in directx9. ****. So alot lower at dx11 then when thats available. hmmmmm

  9. Oh wow, did they just confirm Crysis2 will only have those 3 presetted configs?
Very disappointed in Crytek on this matter =/.

Uh you don't read much do you? DX11 isn't even implemented into crysis 2 yet. It's going to be patched in. So how could any amount of leverage change that?

The article that made me frown was the Internet speed one. I'd be more than willing to tolerate living in the Red and Yellow for that kind of theoretical speed. =/

Did you expect to play smoothly Crysis 2 on hardcore settings with 460GTX? I can barely hold with my factory overclocked one a 30FPS on that res in Warhead enthusiast/dx10.

  13. Because Crysis 2 is only DX9 for now.. even the Nvidia benchmarks are biased because its only dx9.

Warhead also looks better than Crysis 2....

That doesn't make them biased. Don't use words that you don't understand.

It would only be biased if AMD magically did DX11 benchmarks.

  15. I have an Intel Xeon (8-core CPU) with 24GB RAM and ATI 6950x6970x6970 Trifire. I can't wait to run this game on my monster PC with 3 screens at max resolution each :)
