Weird keyboard problem

When i push a key like ' or " or ~ nothing will show up, then if i follow it with a letter it will combine the 2, example-
é á ä ë
Its really irratating, and have no idea of the cause.

This is normal behaviour

Are you from an English speaking country and don't really care about accents? In that case, your keyboard may have been set to "US international". Set it to plain "US English" (Or UK English or whatever your location is (thank you for letting us know what kind keyboard you have or where you live or what operating system you are using)).

Its a compaw ps/2 keyboard, i recently updated drivers, and yes im in an english speaking country, but I cannot find any option to do with Us international

Sorry if i wasnt clear, i meant under the keyboard options in control panel there is no option like the one you mentioned.
There is a speed, buttons, hardware tab and its not under any of those
