Personally, there are just two things to be mindful of for me: SSD and IPS!
Everything else is secondary and for home use most things will work fine anyway and the ssd would be the biggest bottleneck IMO.

    My personal important points are
    • Size of HDD or SSD
    • Graphic card/VRAM (the higher the better!)
    • Keyboard backlit
    • Screen resolution (the higher the better!)
    • Is there ODD? Do you actually need one?
    • Processor

Laptop implies portability and that leads IMO directly to weight and battery life (and the ability to tune power usage).
It also would exclude IMO, all AMD processors for excessive power & heat.

Not all AMD processors, the APU's are very good I hear!

Well the most important thing is definitely battery life. What's the point having a mobile computer IF it can't stay mobile enough?
