What are the minimum security programs I should be running?

I've just got a new PC with windows 7

I am running Avira anti virus at the moment

what other security porgrams should I be running?

Opinions vary widely.
For most users these work great:
Avast or Avira as your antivirus, then two spyware programs. We are happy with MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware, but you could also consider Spyware Doctor and Spy Sweeper,
Then
Windows Defender, Microsoft Security which run in the background and are non-intrusive.
Do not bother with Spy Bot and Adaware. They do little good, and cause too many problems with removals most do not want or need, despite the fact they are also free.
