What does dpi mean?

    Um yes, I am new to the site and i was just wondering what dpi meant for a mouse I see others like 600,800,1000,1600,2000,and 2500 and I was looking at a gaming mouse that has all of them and it's interchangable so I was wondering if that is also good or bad. If you could help me out it would be really worth it.
