  1. Hello everyone
Anyway I was wondering what SSE# means? When ever I look at the specs on a cpu it will say that the cpu supports SSE4 or SSE(insert # here).
So what does SSE stand for and what purpose does it serve? In what way does SSE affect how a cpu performs?

    Supplemental Streaming SIMD Extension

    SSE3 contains 13 new instructions over SSE2.
    SSE4 contains 47 new instructions over SSE3

    It's all jibberish stuff
