What is the max RAM I can put in this machine?

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with only 2 slots (2 256mb sticks). It has Windows XP on it.
How much ram will it recognize?

You can install a maximum of 2 gb of RAM onto your machine, according to the Dell website.

Here, take a look at this page. Your system may allocate a small amount of memory for your graphics. I suggest you read this, as well, if you intend to install the modules yourself.

Hope that helps a little. :)

Just beware it only takes DDR RAM, not DDR2 or DDR3 and will be quite expensive to upgrade as it's legacy parts.

Go to http:// www. Crucial .com and run a scan on your dell. They have( DDR) 2 gig(1gigx2) kits for as low as 59.00 PC3200 and PC2700 Which will both work in your system.
