I know a lot about computers and computer hardware, but I've been trying to pick parts for this guys new computer and the only thing I can't pick is the motherboard.
Now that I think about it, I've never really looked at motherboards before, so I don't know which ones are good and which ones are bad.

Could you tell me which make is the best and how to decide which ones are good and bad?

If I just wanted one graphics card and 3-4 ram slots, which one would be good?

If I wanted a 2 way SLI, which one would be good?

If I wanted a 3 way SLI, which one would be good?

What chipset you planning on using?

You need to tell us about the processor you plan to use, and the RAM, and well pretty much the entire specification if you would like us to help you choose something suitable.

Gigabyte, Asus, Intel, Biostar, SuperMicro, Zotak, MSI... Full size before Micro...

Before Jetway, nor Asroc, nor Elite Group...

    In my experience

    (Only a partial list)

I have had to return at least one of every brand of motherboard... it seems like we field techs are doing the quality control.

First and foremost you need to decide what processor to get first. No good buying an amazing motherboard then finding out the CPU won't fit...
