What's your job?

im glad you all replied to my post, it lets me got to know you all a little better. I'm glad we have so many IT techs here to help out, your input is invaluable! Hopefully when i leave the military I'll either get into a tech position or working with cell towers/development of cellphones.

Um Graphic Design - mosly for signs, IT person, WTF question guy.

I work in a local copy shop that has branched out a lot. Sell laser levels, safety equipment (like safety vest, hard hats, fall arrest stuff). We do large format copies, mostly architectural stuff. We also run a builders exchange. Of course we have your standard small format stuff. Both a b/w and color xerox copier/printer. Also produce signs - anywhere from simple speed limit signs and constructions signs to fancier signs. We have a nice Roland sp-540v printer that can print & cut.

That's mostly my job is running the sign dept.

Also do all the IT work for the shop - fix computers, answer questions, setup printers, all of it. I do a bit of maintenance for our websites too, but luckily they run pretty good w/o any interference from me.

Other than that I get a lot of the WTF odd ball questions.

But its a great place to work. Very casual - no real dress code, just t-shirt and jeans.

I didn't really have a background in any graphic design when I started here. As far as IT work, it was all from fixing my own computers and families. Never touched Illustrator or Indesign before, and only limited Photoshop knowledge. :p. Luckily im a fast learner. Been here 3 yrs, and don't plan on leaving :D. love my job.

I'm currently a QC Analyst and application scripter. I've also been a desktop support person, a test lab coordinator and IT Business analyst.

(Sorry full time mom but I think you'll agree that these people have their work cut out for them)

I retired in February of this year but I was a division head in a department for the City of Los Angeles.
