I believe its called capitalism...you know, making a profit?. Are Julio and the crew supposed to do this for a lark or something?

and its not "selling out"...its just 'selling' a common practice for successful businesses worldwide.<<<end of sarcasm.

It costs a lot of money to run this site. I'm fine with the advertising if that brings in the money for them.

yea but it's so damned annoying, can't they put the ads in a place where it doesn't interfere with reading posts? like down the sides or at the bottom? between posts makes things hard to read:

hello i have a problem with my comp. can someone help?

not exact word for word, but you get the point.

"No Script" For Firefox, Don't Leave Your Home LAN Without It

Dear Zero, if you haven't already done so, please download and install the Firefox web Browser @; http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

Then install the following "NoScript" add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722/

if that doesn't kill sufficient advertising, you can also install this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/

That combination of browser and security should be enough to squelch almost all advertising on most sites.

Tentatively, this resolution will shut both you and your browser up. I should note that there's a downside. Unfortunately, you'll also have to do without a larger penis

BTW, you only get some of the ads until you log in anyway.

There’s an alternative, simpler way to get rid of ads, that anybody who doesn’t like them can employ. You just pay the board the equivalent of the forgone income that ads would generate…I said simpler, not cheaper.

    1.) Firefox
    2.) Adblock Plus

I didn't even know this site has ads. lol

You're complaining about ads that members do not see -- at least not that I'm aware of. Unregistered users are a bit overburdened with ads, but all you have to do is sign up for free, log in and nearly all the forum ads disappear apart from a banner or two in non-intrusive locations. No browser extensions required.

As already pointed out, there are bills to pay, mouths to feed and so on. I'm sure Julio would love to run this site for charity but the world just doesn't work that way ;).

    *Edit*

Oh, and realize that the money goes back into the site. Just recently Julio hired a new web designer and two news editors.
