How can i find where my pc has saved the updates that it has downloaded from windows updates.

It may depend upon what version of Windows you are using, but you should find them C:\WUtemp for Windows XP.
If you are interested in downloading the updates to disk for offline use, you can choose the updates by browsing through the windows update catalog, which is available on the windowsupdate site.
