  1. Which of these CPUs would be better for gaming?

    My Mobo:

    The second one, the Q6600 is far outdated by now.

    The Q6600 is the better buy. Hotter-running and a bit more power hungry, but has double the cache, and the difference in frequencies is minimal (the Q8400 is just 266MHz faster). Higher cache almost always equates to better performance, especially in games where cache size significantly affects performance.
