I have an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, with a very noisy Intel stock fan. Which of the following should I get instead:

    • Zalman CNPS7000C-AlCu
    • Thermaltake CL-P0391
    • Thermaltake Silent P0378

I want it to be as quiet as possible, but effective and not very expensive.

Please let me know which one, or any other suggestions :)

    Thanks.

cant speak for the other two, but the zalman is silent, and comes with a fan controller that lets you go from 300 -2600 rpm. if you go with the zalman make sure you check the mobo compadability list cuz its big and meeds to clear your capacitors, memory, etc

I'd recommend the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 with either a Yate Loon\Nexus Real Silent D12SL-12 or a Scythe SFF21D\SFF21E. The fan choice will make the real difference here, rather than the actual heatsink itself, since the fan quality mainly determines the noise level.

Get the HDT-S1283 for $20 with an MIR from here and the fans can be bought from either Jab-Tech or FrozenCPU.
