White lines across the screen

Hi,

Since yesterday I have been seeing white lines across the screen of my laptop. I have a Sony Vaio CR120E early 2008 model. The white lines/band running horizontally across the screen is not permanent, and goes off if point pressure is applied from the top coverside of the screen, or on the face of the screen.

I did , open my laptop monitor and checked the data connection to the screen and the power supply, and they both look ok, although still on applying pressure the white lines go on and off.

Now I am not sure, it is an issue with the ribbon of my monitor or whole LCD monitor. Do note, that the lcd monitor do works fine sometimes. Please advise.
