Why shouldn't system restore be on?

I don't know how many times people have been told to go to the thread on how to remove spyware. I was wondering, what is the reason for turning System Restore off? I have heard some people say it is useless and I have heard some say it helps out a lot. I've just been curious for a while about this one...

Because system restore is a snapshot of your system at an earlier time, it is protected from anti spyware/virus programmes, which cannot access it.

So if your system is infected with any of these critters, they may still reside in your restore points. Turning off system restore deletes all the restore points and anything that may be lurking in them.

Regards Howard :)
