Why won’t my electronic scale weigh?

    I have a Radio Shack USB Electronic Scale.
    It works fine on my Dell PC using Windows XP home.
    When used with my Compaq Presario PC using Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, it will not weigh. Other functions work, I can select lbs. or Kg., UPS, FedX or USPS, but when I place an item on it, it remains at zero.
    I have installed and un-installed the driver a few times, it hasn’t helped.
    Does anyone have any idea what could cause this?
