Wi-Fi Internet dropping issue

Ok this is weird and i wanted to see if anyone could help before i try a OS restore. My xps m1710 was working fine then i had a strange power issue but i got it fixed, the only thing that isn't working correctly again is my wifi. during the fix i accidentally striped the metal head connector off the black wire going into the wireless card, but i fixed it to my best knowledge (its metal on metal on the inside). after doing this though now when i connect to my wifi network it will keep wifi connection but i will randomly lose internet, not connection just internet. After i turn wifi on and off i am connected again, any ideas? need more info just ask.
