When I first got my laptop it was loaded with Windows XP Home Edition. I have since upgraded to Windows XP Pro SP2 (after I got a virus and had to reformatt). Now when I turn on my computer it will show both versions and tell me to highlight the one I want to open or in 30sec it will just open XP Pro. I don't know why there is still a mention of the Home Edition and cannot find a way to make that go away.

If anyone knows what I should please let me know. Not a major problem just an annoyance.

Hi,

It sounds like you inadvertently installed the XP Pro on a new partition which created a Dual Boot Environment on your PC.

In order to correct this, you would need to delete all partitions, create a new partition and install XP Pro on the newly created partition. Of course with any reformat, there will be data loss so be sure to back up all your wanted data before reformatting the hard drive.

I hope this helps!

Yes I agree
Editing the boot.ini file (making sure to change the attribute from "read only") is quite easy, once known.

FYI Sadly Vista decided to remove this easy boot configuration file.
