Win Update keeps trying to update the same thing

Hi everyone,

I just built my first rig!!! w007

I'm having some problems with windows update. When I boot up and load windows, the desktop comes up and the windows update popup appears. it tells me theres a new update:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB928366)

I attempt to install once it's finished downloading and it explains...

After i close the update window, it goes thru the whole cycle again. Saying theres a new download for me and so on.

Any ideas?

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600
NVIDIA 8500
2 x 1 Gb PNY ram
Win XP Pro SP3
250 Gb WD Caviar(SATA)

The first thing you have to do is check and see if you have the NET Framework installed:
Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> look for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 ..

IF you do, try downloading the update from this Microsoft download site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...cd-c715-4f05-a01f-0455d2d9ebfb&DisplayLang=en

I notice you got the SP3 update. Be advised that this update is causing a lot of users a lot of problems.

IF this still does not work, look for a failed update. This will sometimes cause a subsequent update to fail. If needed, uninstall the NET v1.1, then run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:

Then download and reinstall the NET Framework v1.1 from this Microsoft download site:

Then do the update.
