Win7 back to XP?

I just purchased A Toshiba Satellite L650 laptop with Win 7 0n it.I would like to load my old Vista on it.My Vista is an upgrade and it has to be installed on top of XP but the computer wont let me install it.Any ideas would be appreciated.

Install Vista without using the CD key (it will let you continue if you leave it blank). Then once it is installed, insert your Vista disk again and choose upgrade - this time use your CD Key during the install.

Going from 7 to Vista is an odd step. I never had any problems with Vista, but I also can't think of anything Vista did better than Win 7. Why would you go back?

Windows 7 is so much better than Vista in all aspects. Vista is like Windows Me. I had Windows Me running fine, but when XP was released, it was like night and day. A computer running Vista can have Windows 7 installed with out much trouble. Going from XP to Windows 7 you might need a better sound and video card for Windows 7 compatibility
