You have a trojan on your computer pure and simple. Now either your computer is being infected with the trojan from the internet, your intranet OR the software you are using is infected with the trojan. Do you have other computers connected to your computer? Do you have a wireless internet connection? RyanXXL are you using priated software?

None of those things you have changed would allow your mouse to move around and open new windows or to control your computer. When mice break they usually don't send any signal at all to the motherboard or a button quits working. When keyboards break usually only a few buttons stop working or send the wrong character.

Cinders, he zero'd his hdd. On the advice of a successfull businessman who seems to be an expert in this area, so no way could a trojan survive that!
Ryanxxl, did you have a network/internet connection active whilst reinstalling winxp or win98se? If so, its possible that you re-downloaded a nasty trojan or something similar.
Win98se no longer has legit support, so its far more vulnerable to attack than winxp.

If you've tried a usb mouse and it still doesn't work, change your motherboard....AND GET MORE RAM!! :grinthumb

Yeah I saw that he zeroed his drive, but If he is installing software he downloaded with a P2P program then his software is more than likely tainted. If he is Internet connection sharing with another computer on the premises then the other computer is infected. If he is using wireless broadband with a second computer acting as a server then the server or a third unknown computer is infected. If he lives in Asia or Russia or anywhere for that matter and is using pirated software then that software is probably infected. Hardware failure does not usually cause his symptoms. He has a human inteligence (other than his own) controlling his computer with a nasty trojan.

    Hi Cinders.

Well, all my software are genuine, with purchased license. I use a standalone PC (Not in a network).

And k.jacko, I have no network/internet connection active whilst reinstalling winxp or win98se.

The problem is elswhere! You know, it is like trying to decode the MATRIX, it is something very hard to realise!!

I now really do thinks its hardware. Can you put your same keybaord and mouse onto another pc, just to make sure they work fine.
If so, then i think its either your motherboard or your ram.
If you started a thread on here saying "What problems has ram caused to your pc?" I reckon you'd get pages of posts all reporting different problems.
Ram is probably the one piece of hardware that elicits immeasureably random behaviour across the board.
Seeing as you are running the bare minimum for xppro, although not for 98se though, it may just be faulty.
I'd change the ram first as its cheaper to buy a stick of 256mb than to buy a motherboard. Then change the motherboard.

I have just change my 128 ram, maybe one month ago! So, I don't think that it is the RAM.

The motherboard too is new. I change both at the same time!

I have not got this problem today, I hope that it will last long, very long!!

Just because its fairly new does not mean it isn't faulty.

    Hi everyone.

May be someone will be able to find the right solution from my IMPORTANT observation about the leaping mouse issue.

When I got this problem, where the mouse starts to open program and move around the desktop in a crazy way, I disconnect the mouse from the PS port and reconnect it afterward!

The problem was solved !!! When the problem reappears after a month, I did the same and the problems stops.

So, surely there is a problem with the PS2 port which is on the Motherboard.

I hope that this may help some to get round this issue.

Note: I nearly turn mad with this problem. This happens when I had Winxp Installed.
I format my PC hundreds time, I even zero the harddisk before finally installing WIN98. When the mouse started to leap again, I was ready to blow everything!
All this due to a PS port! It's unbelievable sometimes!!

You should try and have at least 512MBs (XP's sweet spot) of ram for XP. On a fresh install, I always do a zero fill, on the first 100 MBs of the hard drive, it only takes a few minutes. I do the zero fill just in case there is a boot virus in the boot record, which a format will not touch.
