I have a laptop windows 10 that just crashed the other day. I'm putting in a new hard drive, but have no clue as to how to recover my windows 10 installation without a disc, etc. Plenty of info out there on creating a bootable recovery flash drive, and doing a fresh install from a boot menu, but I didn't do any of that before hand. How do I obtain the windows 10 installation for a new hard drive?

Even simpler. Do it all in one step (tool)
  • Download Windows Media Creation Tool
    • Under "Create Windows 10 installation media" section hit button Download Now)
  • Insert a flash drive (min. 8GB)
  • Run media creation tool. Select the flash drive when it asks where to create media
Voila. You're done.
