Windows 7 Experience

  1. Just installed W7 Release Candidate on an old Toshiba Tecra A2 with 512MB RAM and a 30GB drive, which had a broken version of XP SR3 on it. Because W7 has no direct upgrade path I went for the new installation.

Microsoft has finally produced a worthy update to XP. It installed without any problems at all - managed to get the right drivers from somewhere and actually runs reasonably quickly all things considered.

Lets hope that it doesn't suffer from Software bloat between now and the final release.

With 512 megabytes of ram, I'm surprised it runs. The minimum specs listed by Microsoft says 1 gig.

It runs and works quicker than XP pro did previously. Office2007 all work so as it's for a student he's happy.
