Windows 7 Ultimate not responding on programs

Im currently running windows 7 ultimate and every time I run a couple programs or so, the computer freezes the programs go not responding and come in a minute or so. I don't know whats causing this but would appreciate any help in the matter.
My computers specs are as follows
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64 bit
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500 @ 3.3Ghz x 4
MEM: 4G DDR3 RAM
VID: ATI Radeon HB 5670
MOBO: ASUS P8P67 LE

Is this problem isolated to any particular programs, if so, what programs are they and where did you get them from, genuine discs or downloaded torrents?

If this happens radomly with all programs then you may have a Malware infection, run this and see if it finds anything.

This may also be a sign of a failing hard drive, faulty memory or a problem with your graphics card.
