windows encounters an error

  1. Hi, Im new to this forum this is my first posting so bare with me.

    I have a number of AVI files in a folder called holidays.
    I expand the the main folder which opens a number of sub folders.
    I click on one of these folders with contain a AVI file which shows in the main screen.without moving he mouse to the file windows States" windows has encountered an error and is shutting down"
    This Happens with all my avi folders which have been downloaded from various sites.
    can any one please help me

    his could be due to corrupt data in the video files. Also, it could be caused by CODEC's on your system - these are responsible for DECoding the video/audio files on your system.

    Many CODECS including DivX and the ones installed by Nero are well known for these sorts of errors.

    So, if it only happens in a folder where you have downloaded video, probably bad files. If it happens in other folders (where you have files you created) probably a CODEC issue.
