Windows Explorer opens in reduced size

Before, when I first opened the Windows Explorer, it always appeared in its full size, occupying the entire screen, like other Windows apps, e.g. Word, IE etc.

But since a couple of days ago, it suddenly started opening in reduced size, occupying only part of the screen. Of course, I can increase it to full by clicking on the square icon on top right, but this is annoying.

Is there a way to restore WE as it was and should be, i.e. open directly in full screen size?

Windows XP? This usually works for me. Open Windows Explorer, expand it to full size and close it. Open it again and it should open full sized. Also, make sure that, "Remember each folder's view settings," box is checked in Folder Options.
