Windows Media Player suddenly gives me this error message when I try to play DVDs

"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card."

Does anyone where I get a video, if it will work, or any other tips? Thanks a lot.

I installed it, but it still won't play them. Do I have to do something to let WMP know it's installed?

Can anyone else help with this? I'm still having trouble.

What kind of DVDs are you trying to play? Are these copies or originals?

    Originals. Store bought DVDs.

it wants me to uninstall XP codec pack first. Should I allow this?

yea, should be OK to uninstall the other codec pack first

btw.. it can be much easier to simply use KMPlayer or VLC to play DVDs instead of trying to find codecs for Windows media player

Use this utility to check you have a compatible mpeg2 decoder installed. If one is installed and is compatible with WMP you can ensure it is selected as the one WMP will use.
