Windows no longer boots

i have a lap top {windows xp home}
and it doen't stop booting up
the windows logo start and then a blue screen displayes not long enough for me to record the error information.
i think it said 0x00000024 and some other numbers
i try starting windows in safe mode but no luck
i even try starting it in last know good mode i think thats what it said and still no luck


and help would be appprecited

This is simpler to do than it is to write..........

You will as Zeno says need to run a repair installation of Windows.

When you finish that you should go to; "control Panel" > "System" > (brings up "system properties tab) > "Advanced" (tab) > then in lowest panel ( startup and recovery) click on "settings (button) under "system failure" UNCHECK (box) "automatically restart". That should prevent this from happening in the future.

With that unchecked, you should at least be able to get the error info off the BSOD. (Obviously for the next time). Here's hoping there isn't a next time.
