I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Business SP2 installed with all updates and about once a month for the past 4 months after boot I get the popup "Activation was successful". Is this a feature or a bug in Windows Vista? Is it supposed to phone home once a month. I think there are limits to the number of times Windows can be activated. After this popup the message "This copy of windows is not genuine" appears on the desktop in the lower right corner and stays there untill the next reboot, whereupon it goes away. Will I eventually not be able to use this copy of Windows due to the activation limit being exceeded? What can I do? It is definitely a genuine copy of Windows that I bought when it first came out as I officially bought xp professional and got a free upgrade copy of vista business with it (oem).
