Hi,

using windows xp, with sp2 installed.

System is as follows: CPU: p4 530, RAM: 1GB ddr2, GPU:7800GT, mobo:abit aa8 3rdeye

Problem: my system up until today would shut down normally. Today, i pressed shut down from within windows and windows would proceed to the screen where it says Windows is preparing to shut down; but it simly hangs there indefinatly without any change in the process, leaving my system sitting there. How can this be remedied.

PS: i recently was connecting a samsung z5 mp3 player and i uninstalled zonealarm suite; i dont know if these might have done anything

Thank You.

this happened on my old compaq presario.
once the screen comes up, i'd wait until the hard drive stops working and the "busy" light on the pc stops lighting up.
then, i'd hold down the I/O for a couple seconds, until the computer turned off.

I never fixed that problem though, sorry :D

Problem solved, whatever i did the problem no longer exists.

Thanks for the help
