Windows XP installation freezes on laptop

  1. i've been trying to install windows xp on my vista laptop, i have set the bios menu to boot from cd drive first but when it starts to install on my laptop it freezes or just stops working on the first message that says setup is inspecting computers hardware configuration... and when left will doing nothing. any help would be very appreciated

    Check to see if the CD is squeaky clean. BTW, also if the laptop originally came with Vista, make sure XP drivers are available from the laptop manufacturer before continuing.

    i've done these suggestions and still nothing it just continues to freeze on the same screen

    What is the source of your Windows XP CD and what version is it?
