Windows XP Repair Install

  1. I did a repair install for my windows xp.

But my computer was accidentally turned off before it could finished installing. So now I have an unfinished windows xp operating system.

Is there anyway to complete this installation process? Now, Recovery Console only gives me the option to install Win XP in the same partition where it then warns me of installing multiple operating systems in the same partition. What do you guys think I should do?

    Thanks.

You can still Repair Windows (not in the Recovery Console though)

Here's the guides to follow: (Please choose your OS version)

Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Repair Install step by step

Thanks kimsland. sorry, i didnt mean to say Recovery Console.

I originally used that guide to go about the repair install. But then the computer was turned off. Now when I go to it again, it no longer has the option of repair install, only fresh install of windows xp...where it says that windows xp is already installed, although unfinished.

Is there no way to continue with repair install?

Any chance you can get to Safe Mode? (pressing F8 just before Windows load)
If not, do you actually need your data that's on there, or can you just do a clean install?

Read: How to recover your folders/files when Windows won’t boot

    Clean Install

Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Repair Install step by step (* Including Delete Partition)
    http://www.windowsxpprofessional.windowsreinstall.com/sp2sp3installxpcdoldhdd/indexfullpage.htm

Microsoft's Windows XP Home Repair Install step by step (* Including Delete Partition)
    http://www.windowsxphome.windowsreinstall.com/sp2sp3installxpcdoldhdd/indexfullpage.htm

    * Warning deleting the Partition will remove all User data and Windows system files
