Windows XP won't load unless I do fixmbr every time

I have the recovery disk. When I do fixmbr \Device\HardDisk0 then the system loads OK. (I am on it now) But if I need to restart I have to do it all over again.
Any help appreciated.

I would suggest doing a hard drive diagnostics test to make sure the hard drive isnt failing or has a corrupt sector or anything. Go to the manufacturer's website and download the Diagnostics tool to test the drive and see if there are any errors on it. The test should be able to fix any minor problems or at least mark the sectors bad and not use them. Also could try running MemTest86 to see if there is a RAM issue but I doubt it.
