i have built a new computer and i have a problem with installing window xp. every time i try to formate the hard drive i get a error (damage disk) . i have a new hard drive installed in it (sata2 hard drive).it will start to formate and at the end of the formating it will give me that error.i thaught it was missing the drives for the hard drive so i installed it and still have the problem.i try the quick formate and it worked but i get error like the blue screen and it take long to load window and other error.
please can any help me.

"Quick Format" probably worked because it bypasses the CHKDSK that runs during a regular format.

Having the exact error message for us would help greatly, however, try using one of the HDD diagnostic utilities on this page:
