WinMgmt.exe error revisited

    One of my PCs is running Windows 2000. A few days ago (after a thunderstorm, but I don't know if there's a connection) I started receiving the following error: WinMgmt.exe has generated errors and will be closed... When I googled for information, this forum came up with instructions by LNCPapa to fix the error. Apparently, it worked for the original querier but the link no longer works.

    Can LNCPapa (or anyone else) provide these instructions again?

    Thanks so much in advance. The error pops up about once a minute and is driving me crazy.
