WinXP x64 does not recognize CD/DVD drives, virtual or not

  1. I have installed WinXP x64 on my PC, all OK from the beginning. However, now none of my CD/DVD drives are showing up. I know that they are OK, because I have used them to install OS, drivers, software and such. I am not sure when it happened, but now I don't see either one of them. Device manager says that the drivers are corrupt, but I don't see how and I cant seem to reinstall them.

For those of you what have U3 drives, you know that the device loads a virtual CD drive by default and then the actual drive. Well I do not see the virtual drive either. Device manager says that the drivers are corrupt for that as well.

    What is going on?

Well I'll be damned. It actually worked. Even U3 is working. Thanks a lot.
Do you know what actually caused the problem?
