Wireless connection issues

So i am having some issues staying connected to my wireless. we have a new router after our old one died. and we have 3 laptops and my xbox connected to it. but only my laptop seems to take for ever to connect when i first turn it on and then randomly it will drop the connection. while ever one else computers stay connected. and the strange thing that when i go to my friends house i connect instantly and never lose connection. any ideas why this might be happening and what could be done to stop it from happening? im using a dell inspiron, the routers is a Netgear. I dont think its an over loading problem because it happens when i am the only one using the wireless (ie no one else is home)
