Wireless-G Notebook Adapter

I am working on a HP laptop with a Wireless-G Notebook Adapter. It shows I am connected to a wireless network. The lights are on on the card its self but I can not connect to the internet. The laptop is running XP. Any help would be great.

What encryption are you using on your router?
Is there any messages in the system tray like "limited or no connectivity"?
What router are you using?

Not sure about the encryption. Wep? But the connectivity is excellent. Its a Cisco router. I have successfully connected several laptops for the school just not with an adapter card. Could use some expert advise thou. Thanks
