  1. Is there a way to get a laptop to tell a printer to print or send a scan from printer to laptop without using a wireless router? Or if I need a router, can it be set up without being connected to the net?
My G'ma is getting a laptop( @83) and wants to use it as typewriter of sorts, but does not want to be online line. And we want to get her an all in one printer, but not have to be tied down. Any reply is appreciated. Happy Holidays

The printer can be WiFi'd to a router which has no Internet access.
The systems (one or more) can then make a wired OR WiFi connection to that router
and everyone gets to use the printer.

For privacy, the WiFi router should still have encryption enabled so that a neighbor or
someone in a car parked nearby does not get access.
