I believe a company had tried to claim ownership of a Hypertext patent once. This one is similar.

"Method, apparatus and business system for online communications with
online and offline recipients"

& here is the lawyer putting his shiny new patent to good work.

That should be revoked. It's one of those "obvious" things you just shouldn't be able to patent.
