Looking for some help, when I try to boot up computer I keep getting error
    winlogon.exe - badname
    dllc.windows system32\kbdus.dll
Have tried to repair with os discs but not working, keeps going back to error.
Is there anything that I can do without reinstalling windows. I would like to be able to recover some files first?
Has this happened to other xp users?

    Thanks
    Peter Ont

    Yes it has.

Go to Safe Mode Administrator account

Check the Shell value for Winlogon in your registry. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon should show

    Shell REG_SZ explorer.exe

    Or download this tool: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/XP_FixLogon.zip
This utility checks for the correct GINA value in the Registry and will allow you to restore it, if its incorrect.

Reply back if it worked (Back to Normal Mode)
    I'll wait here I suppose :)
