XP HE wont boot normal mode, safe mode ok

Power failed on my new Gateway 509 with Windows XP HE. It will boot in safe mode fine but stays on the XP Splash Screen for more than 30 minutes.
Computer has a 250GB HD and Chkdsk says it is OK.

What should I do next?

Problem Solved

Hello All

Thank you anyway. The problem was caused by a new Cannon pi6600D printer that is slow to initialize. I prevented windows from starting at all. Shut printer off normal boot goes fine. Then turned printer on and P&P finds it and all is ready to go.

Now I need to figure out why the Cannon is so slow.
