I downloaded the notorious System Security malware, however I know how to troubleshoot this problem. The main problem is I cannot troubleshoot it because I can not boot up windows.

I tried to repair windows xp SP2 by using the disk, but not far into the installing process I received the following error "C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe has failed to start because application configuration is incorrect."

If someone could help me get past this error and allow me to boot up my computer I should have no problem getting rid of the System Security malware.

    Can you boot into safemode?

The virus may have corrupted files needed by the repair. Sometimes its better to get rid of the virus first and then replace the damaged system files
