hey everyone i just installed a fresh copy of xp sp2 and now the computer dosen't boot, it freezes at the xp logo screen everytime. I ran memtest86 to check the ram but the ram is fine it finished with no errors. Then i disconnected everything from the motherboard except the hard drive, ram, video card, and cpu fan. Tried 3 different hard drives all the same exact problems and i also tested the powersupply and thats fine. Please someone help!

You are saying you have separately installed XP 3 times on three different HDD's ? Then you must be doing something wrong in the installation. The first thing to come to mind is motherboard drivers not installed.....is it a SATA HDD? Second thing is need to update motherboard Bios to latest revision. Third thing is faulty CD reader or disk. Fourth thing is incorrect drivers for the hardware you have - for a problem to show up at the point it does, I would suspect video card/onboard driver.

won't boot

Here is somethings to try

  1. set bios to default
  2. see if there is a newer bios version and update the bios
  3. check the boot sequence. set hard drive as first
  4. If you a flash card reader installed, remove it and reinstall the os
  5. Make sure the usb emulation is set to no boot
  6. reseat memory
