My laptop, Sony VAIO, has shutdown and the black screen with a countdown timer appears giving me the choice to :
    1. start in safe mode
    2. start with command prompt
    3. start with last known good configuration

However, no matter which I choose, it is just a loop back to the black scren of choices...

    Any help will be appreciated.

I cannot start teh computer at all to get the info on the system... so I am at a standstill for providing you with the computer specs....

    Hi

It sound like the OS is stuffed, this can be caused by things like the HD failing or by a nasty such as trojan or virus, there's an good thread here.

Let us know how you go on
