Recap: It's been a tough year for Meta. The tech giant has faced plummeting stocks, hiring freezes, large-scale turnover, and a failed venture into the cryptocurrency space. In a recent Q&A with employees, CEO Mark Zuckerberg discussed changes in the company's focus, management style, and employee expectations. Unfortunately for Meta employees, the expectation communicated is that many of them may no longer be needed or welcome.

During the session, Zuckerberg bluntly told the Meta workforce that "...some of you might decide this isn't the place for you, and that self-selection is OK with me."

The statement highlights the company's need to brace for additional economic hardships and coincides with a ~30% reduction in planned 2022 hires, down from the original 10,000 target to between 6,000 and 7,000 hires this year.

Zuckerberg's focus on increased performance and reduced hiring is designed to weed out poor performers and those who are unable to meet Meta's new performance goals.

His statements come on the heels of Meta CPO Chris Cox's, whose pre-meeting memo to employees outlined Meta's intent to "prioritize ruthlessly" and "operate leaner, meaner, better executing teams."

Despite the personnel and management changes, Cox's memo also highlighted Meta's need to expand the number of GPUs in its data centers to support their TikTok-style app, Reels, as well as to fuel AI tasked with surfacing popular feeds from users' Facebook and Instagram accounts.

In addition to Meta's current social media-based services, the company's hardware division has been focused on delivering a mixed reality headset to the market. Nicknamed "Cambria," the next generation headset will supposedly feature 16 cameras as well as eye and face tracking capabilities. The headset is set to launch in the second half of 2022 with pricing rumored to start at $799.

Many of the changes are meant to help Meta regain ground and increase revenue growth for the remainder of the year and beyond. Zuckerberg's and co. strong words may be designed to appeal to investors and shareholders, but will undoubtedly have Meta employees touching up resumes or looking for other safer, more stable opportunities. And from the sounds of it they should. Statements like these aren't simply a warning that change is coming, but rather the sign that the change is already here, and casualties are inevitable.

The best starting point is to begin evaluating from the top. Oh, if anybody will do that, Zuckerberg may be the first to leave. His numerous bad decisions and mismanagement lead Facebook in this infamous position. We remember the Congress investigations, Cambridge Analitica, Instagram poisoning children and teenage minds with false or unrealistic standards etc. The conclusion will be that employees are fine, the management or mismanagement is the real issue. However all of this may be too late, this corporation is on a descendent trend for years and for good reasons. Can they reform and reinvent? Hard to do and only without Zuckerberg incompetence.

Third photo is terrifying.

I know they're testing 'metaverse' on some conference, but that's the future of next generations. Mindless drones without any free will. Just methamphetamine and corporate overlords.

I'm so happy I won't live long enough to be part of this.

You have been Zucked... how that criminal is still running this company.

Wide brush. There are crap people everywhere. Here's another wide brush. I'd say 30-35% of every human on earth is a piece of crap. Getting rid of them is harder than one may think though.

By that logic, the Zuck himself should be the first one to go: The most notable failures of the company recently are Zuckerberg's insistence on gimmick technology like VR that will never caught on as a mass consumer electronic device (Yes, you can quote me on that VR is never going to replace 99.99% of tablet, phones or tvs it will always be a curiosity for tech enthusiasts, nothing more) or the venture into crypto nonsense or ultimately the combination of both.

I mean the guy renamed the entire corporation 'Meta' and now that crypto, the thing that meta bet all their money and even their very name on is basically dead, now he wants people to meet new performance goals? Buddy you're the one thing holding the entire multi billion operation back you're no better than Musk.

Ιn the US Navy, they say: "There are no bad teams, only bad leaders".

If you claim your sailors suck, you ARE gonna lose.

Another 40-55% say and do nothing to stop them from turning their country into something evil, because they have faith things will work out, but are the the first to whine and complain when they don't.

The extremists are fighting for their version of the country harder than the rest are fighting for theirs.

Not surprising to hear this as most companies have been doing this for years. It's just that we don't hear much about it but when Facebook comes out in the media it's an explosion.

I'm surprised the CEO and capitalism brigade haven't shown up to defend the CEO of a corporation
Nowadays it became harder and waay expensive to hire trolls to "defend" corrupt/evil corporations and/or their CEO. Plus the people simply do not believe them anymore. Another bad example is Blizzard. Bobby kotick (Blizzard CEO) asked a Facebook executive woman, friend of his, to censor the media (read blackmail). And she did it and threaten media to not publish the wrongdoings and investigations against him, the infamous Bobby Kotick, otherwise Facebook will not advertise and monetize those media. They had been exposed and all turned against them both. Some companies are really rotten up to the core.

I was referring to our own TS capitalism crew lol

The worst thing about lies is that eventually even the liers start to believe it to be the truth. If Junkburger thinks that constant failed projects is failure of workers while he is somehow a great meta visionary then I can only pity the poor employees and poorer shareholders.

We want you to be free ... But also make sure to take all the woke stuff up the rear constantly without batting an eye. -zuck
