LG plans to introduce by the end of the year an innovative media player that will bring video playback functions to the masses. The device will be a HD equipped player similar to Apple's popular iPod and Sony's NW-HD1 Walkman but then of course, will be one of the first devices of a new generation offering more advanced functions on a similar small package.

It includes a 20GB hard drive and has a 2.2-inch TFT display that covers about half of the front of the handheld player. The device supports decoding of MP3, WMA (Windows Media Audio), and Ogg audio files, JPEG still images, and MPEG4 and DiVX videos, LG says.
